A regency Painted Linen Press
This Regency linen press, dating from the early 19th Century has been painted in a the classical Adam style; a movement when mahogany was often painted in softer tones as a reaction to the heavier Georgian style. We think it has Gustavian feel to it, but the overall shape and the bracket feet give away its English beginnings. Its two arched doors over two short and two long drawers on bracket feet like this is a classic Georgian design. The top has a hanging rail but shelves can easily be added.
England, 1810
S1661
